An organisation that has its own legal
identity, distinct from that of its members -
for example, a company. The term is more
commonly used in the USA than in
Britain. In English law corporations can be
either: a corporation aggregate, consisting
of a number of members who may vary from time
to time, as in a company; or a corporation
sole, consisting of one person and his
successors, for example a monarch or a
bishop.
